battle scars

tonight was a good night, made it to sca fight practice again. picked up a log of good tips on things to work on.
the big thing is utilizing the extension of my body, the sword. i’ve got good speed to get my hand where i want it. the problem is focusing that energy an extra 2-3ft. though the sword. all in all i think i did pretty good. still have a long way to go, but everyone starting out does.
now for a couple pics. acquired some nice bruises to show for my efforts.
left: a ‘tap’i received from mr. mike.the armor i was wearing didn’t have an shoulders and well, i paid the price. while we squared off mike reached out and quite literally tapped my shoulder and i called it good. puzzled he looked at me and asked, “really?” after explaining the lack of armor under my sweatshirt he understood. (note: calling a shot ‘light’translates to “hit me harder”)
right: armor bites. this happens when you put on armor that doesn’t fit quite right. pinches that occurs when you bend are aptly named armor bites. these were from an arm piece designed for a longer bone structure. it kept sliding down, thankfully i wasn’t actually fighting during this, only throwing practice shots. i decided to swap out the piece when i found myself not wanting to bring my arm back after throwing a shot
i’m sure there will be much more to come in the future.
